If you are a tenant moving into a home, you would have certain expectations. Tenants expect a well-constructed and maintained home, complete with basic amenities like plumbing, ventilation, etc. Tenants expect a lot, throughout their tenancy, because they pay an exorbitant amount of rent. However, certain responsibilities fall on a tenant as well. They are expected to maintain the premises while living in them and follow up with post tenancy cleaning once they leave.
What is meant by post-tenancy cleaning?
Like the term portrays, it is the cleaning done by tenants, at the end of their tenancy. This is done to prepare the rented-out space, for the next tenants.Technically, tenants are not legally bound to maintain their living enclosures or any other rented out space, however, it is understood that it becomes the responsibility of the occupants of a space. They are expected to maintain the premises, they rent out and leave them in a condition suited for further habitation. However, most tenants lag on this part and hence owners have to undertake post-tenancycleaning. This usually involves refurbishing the furniture, if any, deep cleaning the structures like walls, floors, drawers, etc, and ensuring no pests or bugs remain.
Renting out properties is not an easy feat. They have to be in the best condition possible to attract tenants as well as ensure safety. Being a landlord is a tedious process and requires a lot of effort and due diligence. It is not a responsibility one should take lightly.
